Presented by Daniel Ohs St John New Zealand’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) model has existed in its current form since 2009. It consists of a traditional classroom model of learning supported by online learning activities. This model has been revised and is being relaunched in 2018 with professional registration and volunteer flexibility in mind. The new model consists of a mix of mandatory and optional clinical maintenance opportunities, both provided by St John and self-directed. The model consists of small ‘bite sized’ responsive learning modules which are easy to create, update and complete during work time.
Daniel Ohs is the Assistant Director of Operations who leads delivery of the clinical function for St John New Zealand (NZ). He is also a practicing Intensive Care Paramedic based in Christchurch and a member of the National Ambulance Sector Clinical Working Group who define the Clinical Procedures and Guidelines for the emergency ambulance providers in NZ. Dan is passionate about advancing patient outcomes by ensuring ambulance personnel have the right education, guidelines, consumables, equipment and support to operate effectively in the field.
