Paramedics will join the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme in late 2018. The Paramedicine Council of NSW will be established to manage complaints about registered paramedic and students in conjunction with the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC).
Health professional councils are independent statutory bodies established under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW) (the Law). There are 14 other health professional councils in NSW.
The Governor of NSW appoints members recommended by the Minister for Health.
Expressions of interest are invited for membership of the Paramedicine Council of NSW for the following vacancies:
- 4 Practitioners
- 1 Community member
- 1 Lawyer (with a practising certificate)
ROLE OF THE COUNCIL
The Council’s main responsibility is to protect the public by regulating the profession. The Council does this by working in partnership with Health Care Complaints Commission to manage complaints about the health, performance and conduct of registered practitioners in NSW.
