Paramedicine Board of Australia announces approved qualifications for registration

As we have previously communicated, the standards for registration were recently announced by the Paramedicine Board of Australia and can be found on their website.
In that communication, we also outlined the three paths to registration as far as education standards are concerned. This includes:
  • ‘approved’ qualifications;
  • ‘accepted’ qualifications (NSWA Diploma); or
  • grand-parenting process (see standard, includes pathways for experienced paramedics who have experience but may not have the above qualifications I.e. older qualification types, in house programs etc).
The ‘approved’ qualifications list was not announced when we sent our last newsletter, however this list has now been announced by the board in its communication dated 01 June 2018, and includes the following qualifications from these universities:
  • Australian Catholic University – Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Australian Catholic University – Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Central Queensland University – Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  • Charles Sturt University – Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Charles Sturt University – Bachelor of Paramedicine (Honours)
  • Charles Sturt University – Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic)
  • Curtin University – Bachelor of Science (Paramedicine)
  • Edith Cowan University – Bachelor of Science (Paramedical Science)
  • Federation University – Graduate Diploma of Paramedicine
  • Flinders University – Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  • Latrobe University – Bachelor of Paramedic Practice/Bachelor of Public Health Promotion
  • Monash University – Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Queensland University of Technology – Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  • Queensland University of Technology – Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  • Queensland University of Technology – Bachelor of Paramedic Science – Graduate Entry
  • University of Southern Queensland – Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • University of Sunshine Coast – Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  • University of Tasmania – Bachelor of Paramedic Practice
  • Victoria University – Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Western Sydney University – Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedicine)

It is important to remember that if you do not hold any of the above ‘approved’ qualifications, you may still be registered using an ‘accepted’ qualification (NSWA Diploma) or through the grand parenting process detailed in the grand parenting standard http://www.paramedicineboard.gov.au/Professional-standards/Registration-standards.aspx
